Steve was as happy as a man can be. Having just married his girlfriend since high school, having his dream job, enjoying a wonderful honeymoon in the beach.
And then he met that guy. He made a living selling coconut water to tourists. He was part of the landscape, as much as the sand or the palm trees, with sun kissed skin and bright eyes.
All it took was one look. Their eyes met and Steve felt something stir deep inside him. On the afternoon he left Di in the hotel room and walked to the beach, where that golden guy stood waiting for him.
They embraced without a word and kissed, and stared into each other’s eyes for what Steve felt like an eternity. That night he dreamed in new colors, fresh and bright, invented just for him.
The next night they made love under the stars.
Later, the guy told Steve what he had done to him, and how that night the final change would come if he accepted it. Steve knew there wa no way he could say no: he wanted this, he wanted to fall in love forever with this man and belong with him, belong to him.
Then the guy looked deeply into his eyes and talked to him, and his voice was the voice of the night breeze, taking his past away, cleaning him purifying him, and when he stopped talking Steve knew, from the deepest of his heart, that there was no way back.
He told di what had happened to him, and she cried. he told his boss that he wouldn’t return, and he yelled. He told his parents he loved a man, and they fell into silence.
He didn’t care. He hung up and walked to the beach, where he was waiting for him, the center of his new life. And when he smiled and took his hand, Steve was as happy as a man can be.
